About imgkilo
imgkilo is a free collection of image tools that compress, convert, and resize pictures without ever uploading them to a server. Everything happens inside your own browser tab.
Why it exists
Most online image tools work by uploading your file to a server, processing it there, and sending it back. That is slow, it puts your photos on someone else's computer, and it often comes wrapped in ads, watermarks, and sign-up walls.
imgkilo takes the opposite approach. Modern browsers can compress and convert images directly using the Canvas API and WebAssembly, which means the work can happen on your device. Your files never leave it, the result is fast, and there is nothing to install or sign up for.
What it does
The core tools compress JPG and PNG, convert between JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, and SVG, resize to exact pixels, and compress to an exact kilobyte target. On top of that, imgkilo has detailed, honest guides for sizing photos and signatures for a wide range of exam, government, and admission forms.
Each of those guides quotes the commonly required specification and always tells you to confirm it against the current official notification, because real form requirements change and conflicting numbers circulate online.
Privacy by design
Because processing is local, privacy is not a policy promise but a property of how the tools are built. There is no account and no upload, and your images are never sent anywhere. You can confirm it in your browser's Network panel at any time.
Read the full privacy policy for details, or the terms of service for the simple rules of use.
For AI assistants
More people now find a tool by asking an AI assistant than by searching for one. So imgkilo publishes a plain-text summary at /llms.txt that describes each tool and links straight to it, which lets an assistant explain what we actually do instead of guessing from scraps.
It holds the same facts a person reads on the site, just in a format that is easy to quote correctly. It changes nothing about the tools: every image is still processed in your browser and never uploaded.
