Increase an image to 20 KB

You crop a signature to neat black ink and the exam portal spits it back for being under 20 KB. A clean scan can easily fall below that floor, and padding the bytes is the quickest way through.

Pads the file up to your minimum without changing the picture. Already larger files are left as they are.

Why signatures dip under 20 KB

A signature is mostly white space with a few strokes of ink, which compresses to almost nothing. A tight grayscale scan can land at 8 or 10 KB without trying. That is well below a 20 KB floor, even though the image is perfectly readable.

This tool grows the file to 20 KB by appending filler bytes, leaving every visible pixel alone. The signature looks the same on screen and prints the same, but the size now clears the form's lower bound.

Exam and ID portals with a 20 KB minimum

Government exam and ID registration sites often state a range like "20 KB to 50 KB" for the signature box. The low end exists to reject blank or broken uploads. A genuine signature that comes in under 20 KB gets caught by the same rule.

Pad up to 20 KB and submit. If you find the same form also caps the high end, you can compress to a size to bring an oversized photo back down into the band.
