Grid paper made to your spec

Shop graph paper comes in a few fixed square sizes and one shade of blue. Here you set the grid: how many squares across, what colour the lines are, how heavy they sit, and which sheet size to print on. The squares are kept true, so you get even grid paper rather than a grid that is slightly off.

Because it is generated at print resolution in your browser, the lines stay crisp when you print, and there is no watermark on the paper itself.

Choosing the squares and sheet size

Pick a sheet size first, from A2 down to A5, US Letter, Legal, or a custom size in millimetres. Then set the number of columns; with square cells on, the rows follow so every square is true. The printing guide shows the exact square size in millimetres, so you know what you are getting before you print. More columns make smaller squares.

Set the line colour and weight to suit the job. Light grey lines stay out of the way under pencil work, while a bolder line reads better for charts and plans.

What people use grid paper for

Grid paper is a quiet workhorse. Artists use it for the grid method and for laying out a composition. Students and engineers use it for graphs, plans, and technical sketches. It is handy for neat handwriting, bullet journaling, hand-lettering practice, and for charting cross-stitch or pixel art square by square.

If you want to grid a photo rather than start from blank paper, the grid drawing tool puts the same grid over an image.
