What Maharashtra Police asks for

A photo at a file size near 20 to 50 KB and a signature near 10 to 20 KB are commonly cited, both as JPG on a plain white background, the signature in blue or black ink. Pixel figures conflict between sources, with the photo cited around 200x230 or 165x125 pixels, so treat the exact pixels as approximate.
Unlike the MPSC civil services form, there is no coloured-background rule here, so a standard white-background passport photo is the safe choice. Confirm the size in your unit's notification.
Prepare your files in the right order
Maharashtra Police runs the physical test before the written exam, so your photo and signature matter from the very first stage. Resize the photo to a passport shape and compress to a KB size to fit 20 to 50 KB, and size the signature the same way.
Use a plain white background and a clear front-facing face, and sign in blue or black ink on white paper. Because the drive is district-wise, some local instructions differ slightly, so read your own unit's page.
If a file is under its floor, increase a too-small file to clear it. The tool resizes and compresses only and cannot change the background.
