Why 1366x768 fits so many laptops
For years 1366x768 was the default panel resolution on mainstream laptops, and a huge number of machines still run it. A wallpaper at exactly this size fills the screen with no scaling or letterboxing.
The ratio is almost exactly 16:9, the same shape as widescreen video and slides. Crop to that shape so the image fills the frame edge to edge. The resize tool is preset to 1366 by 768.

Keep the focus away from the edges
On a wallpaper, desktop icons crowd the corners and the taskbar covers the bottom strip. Keep the main subject toward the center so it stays visible.
For a slide background, leave clear, low-detail space where text will sit. A busy photo behind a paragraph is hard to read, so a calmer area in the frame helps.
Trim the file for sharing
A 1366x768 photo is moderate in size, but a detailed image can still run over a megabyte. Compress it before emailing a deck or posting a wallpaper so it transfers quickly.
