The LinkedIn banner dimensions
1584x396 is a 4:1 aspect ratio, the size LinkedIn uses for a personal profile background banner. It is a wide, thin strip that runs across the top of your profile, well above the fold on every visit.
Using the exact pixels stops LinkedIn from upscaling and softening a smaller image, and it stops a larger one from being squeezed down and re-compressed. The resize tool is set to 1584 by 396 so you can drop a photo in and export.
Your profile photo covers the lower left
On a profile, your round headshot and your name card sit over the bottom-left of the banner. Plan for that corner to be hidden behind your photo and text.
The banner also crops shorter on mobile, trimming the top and bottom. Keep any tagline or logo centered vertically and away from the lower-left so nothing important is lost.
