Resize an image to 250x250 pixels

250x250 is a comfortable middle thumbnail, big enough to show real detail but still small and light. It is common for product grids, profile cards, and catalog tiles. The tool below is set to 250 by 250.

A thumbnail with room to breathe

At 250 pixels square you can actually make out a product, a face, or a logo, which a 150 pixel box starts to lose. That makes 250x250 a favorite for shopping grids and member directories.

It is still a 1:1 ratio, so plan for a square crop. If your source is rectangular, center the subject so the trim comes off the sides. Set your own dimensions if a layout wants something slightly different.

Keep edges crisp for graphics

Photos shrink to 250x250 cleanly. Graphics with thin lines or small text need a little more care, since fine strokes can soften when scaled down.

If the result looks fuzzy, the source was probably smaller than 250 pixels to begin with. Start from the largest copy you have so the tool only ever scales down.

Trim the file if a cap is strict

A 250x250 JPEG is light, usually under 60 KB, so it passes most upload boxes without trouble. For a strict limit, compress it to a KB target after resizing.

The whole process happens locally in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, so the image never leaves your device.
