TNPSC Photo and Signature Size Maker

The name-and-date photo rule

The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission runs the Group I, Group II and IIA, and Group IV exams. Its main notifications set a clear photo spec, and the standout part is an overprint: your name and the date of photography, on or after the notification date, must appear at the bottom of the image.

The photo is 3.5 by 4.5 cm, about 130x170 pixels, at 20 to 50 KB. Of that height, the picture takes the top portion and the name-and-date strip takes roughly the bottom 1.5 cm. The signature is drawn in a 6 by 2 cm box, about 230x75 pixels, at 10 to 20 KB. Both are JPG scanned at 200 DPI.

Add the name and date strip to your photo before you size it, then resize to the pixels and compress to a KB size so the file sits in the 20 to 50 KB window. Keep the face and the printed text both clearly readable.

Sign inside the 6 by 2 cm box in blue or black ink on white paper, scan it, then resize and compress it to about 230x75 pixels at 10 to 20 KB. Use your normal running-hand signature.

TNPSC rejects selfies, Polaroid shots, and photos taken at functions or against scenery, so use a plain studio-style headshot on a white background. The tool resizes and compresses only and does not add the name-and-date text for you.
